Better Stronger Faster

The Six Million Dollar Man

I loved this show and clearly it made a deep impression on me.

I've come to measure almost everything as a BSF (Better Stronger Faster) index.
It doesn't have to be all three, it can just be "Better" or it could just be "Faster."
Anything higher than a 1 is an improvement. If it's negative, don't bother.

Keep Moving

The real trick is formalizing this review as BIG changes are hitting the IT industry daily. While these larger changes affect the whole company, micro improvements should be a daily activity for everyone.
Given the right culture, simple tracking, this micro improvement could radically change your company.

Tweak the System

What would happen if your daily goal was to make just one BSF micro improvement. Say a BSF 1.02?
Now what would happen if you encouraged each employee to spend 1 hour a week doing that? It's kind of sad actually, "improving the system" is not in many job titles and it really should be....

Secret... don't tell anyone...

Here is a consulting secret, what I do is ask the people doing the work what's not working, then tell you the same thing, BUT with a plan on how we will fix it.
